For ages 12 through adult, beginners through advanced, this inter-generational dance-lover’s dream includes master classes in modern dance technique, repertory, composition, various dance styles, ethnic dance forms, and dance related fields including video, film, dance criticism, and more. Culminating in a performance by CDDC and participants for the community at large, SummerDance allows you into the world of dance as never before!
Schedule: Each day a featured artist will teach a master class/workshop followed by Dance Dialogues, a brief recap of the day with artists and participants At the conclusion of the residency, the participants and CDDC’s professional dancers will perform work explored, learned, and created for friends, family and the public.

CDDC Company Members Guest Artists/Workshops Choreography for the Camera: Creating and Following the Action led by Susannah Newman, choreographer/filmmaker, master teacher and director of The Media and Performance Collective. Dance on Video led by Nel Shelby, head videographer of the renowned Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival. Her passion for dance and her many years of study has given her an insider’s eye for capturing movement on video. Hip Hop/Contemporary led by Duane Holland a veteran member of the first Hip-Hop theater dance company, Rennie Harris Pure Movement. He has appeared on Broadway (The Lion King) and was Assistant Choreographer and Assistant Dance Captain of Maurice Hine’s Broadway Production of Hot Feet. Looking at The Dance led by Robert Johnson, staff dance critic for The Star-Ledger, in Newark, New Jersey, and reviews editor for Pointe magazine, in New York City. He has written about dance for more than twenty years. Traditional Chinese Dance led by David (Chien Hui) Shen, a native of Taiwan and a senior member of CDDC. A gold medal winner in Martial Arts with a focus on Tai Chi Chuan, David has toured internationally performing with the Taipei Folk Dance Troupe of Taiwan and other professional companies.
Tuition & Registration CDDC will award a limited number of scholarships, based on financial need, to cover tuition and transportation.
